Another interesting use for a laser cutter

We just wanted to share an interesting creation that has been made using some acrylic, patience and creativity on Corel Draw! The challenge was to create sturdy, individual bins to collect receipts for a promotion running at three separate shopping centres. These had to be individually locked to stop theft, durable enough to withstand a lot of handling, yet aesthetic enough to suit the surroundings.

The result using large sheets of acrylic and a Trotec Laser Speedy 500 was outstanding. While construction time was longer than normal due to the gluing involved, the resulting bins provide a safe and secure location for customers to drop their receipts into. Cutting lines at four separate locations through the acrylic results in the curved corners on the bins, and the ability to use one sheet of acrylic.
